the profession to make decisions
2. Code provides a common language for a
profession from disciplinary standpoint
3. Code provides a way to deal with ethical

people in a disciple
Advantages

5. Code provides guidelines for disciplining members


of the profession
6. Code keeps the profession alive by encouraging
dialogue over issues and circumstances among
members of the community
7. Code enables transfer of principles and knowledge

1. Inflexibility of code can foster rigidity of


thought
2. Interpretation of principles as law may cause
suspension of judgment

misused to justify anything
