TASK 1

Read the nine examples of human rights that are in the UN Charter. Order them from 1-9, with the
most important being number 1, and the least important at number 9.

o You have human rights, no matter your gender, skin, colour, nationality, language, religion or
wealth.
o You have the right to education.
o You have the right to freedom of thought and speech.
o You have the right to be free from torture.
o You have the right to food, clothing and shelter.
o You have duties towards the community. You cannot use your rights in a way that threatens
the rights of others.
o You have the right to own things, and nobody has the right to take these from you without a
good reason.

o You are considered innocent until it can be proved you are guilty. If you are accused of a
crime., you have the right to defend yourself

Task 2: Discuss the quote from Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (May
Allah have mercy upon his soul). Do you agree with this perspective on
democracy? Give reasons for your answers.
