INTRODUCTION

• The word "ចរិតខ្រ" does not mean to demean the Khmer people. On the
contrary, the "ចរិតខ្រ" shows the disadvantage that a group of people
commits. It's a group of people that undermines the nation.
• Mr. Bun Chanmol's "ចរិតខ្រ" was published in the First League on April
28, 1973.
• The author recounts the events that took place in 1945, during which time
Phnom Penh was badly affected by the Allied forces.
• Revolution to overthrow the government led by "អ៊ឹង អ៊ី" under the
French protectorate.
Chapter 1 : The journey of escaping from Phnom Penh to
Battambang
: Phnom Penh, where the
author tries to flee.

: The author's loved ones are

waiting for him in safety, away from
the military, in Kompong Cham.

: As his uncle's residence,

Battambang has become his current
hiding place.
Chapter 2 : The creation of Khmer Issarak

• Chan Moul and Pok Kun (known as his uncle) want to

create a group of people that are independent and not
under anyone’s power called "Khmer Issarak.“
• After that, Pok Kun tried to negotiate with the Thai
government to request some additional assistance to
operate Khmer Issarak.
• Then, in 1946, Khmer Issarak was fully established in
the Anlong Vil commune.
• The purpose of Khmer Issarak is to oppose the French-
Khmer government.
• Around 100 trainers were preparing for war, and some of
them formed a detective group to protect Khmer Issarak
from the French-Khmer government.
• Certain aspects of the detector formation is unacceptable,
and others have issues with the French-Khmer
government, providing them ineffective for Khmer
Issarak teams.
• Without considering the commander who led, all the
trainers have said something that can cause and
discourage the soldiers, and they have a problem with
each other, which is why the power of unity is
dwindling.
• Another necessity is that meetings be held in secret for
the team to form. However, some team members are
unable to control their mouths in order to split it among
other people; this is why we always leaked during the
war.
• This is why Chan Muol (the author) always said that the
“Khmer attitude” is that people don't know what to say
and can't keep things private.
• The French-Khmer government had invaded and
gotten Battambang Province back from the Siems.
• The Thai government provides ammunition and guns
to Khmer Issarak for them to attack the French-
Khmer government, but Khmer Issarak only opposes
the French.
 About Dap Chhuon
- At first, he served as a commander in the
French-Khmer government. He is willing to do
anything for Siamses because of his greed for
power and desire to be promoted to a higher
position.
- After a while, he realized he had been duped
by the Siam tricks because no one had come to
reward him, so he regretted it and planned to
return to Cambodia.
- When Khmer Issarak discovered that Dap
Chhuon wanted to return to Cambodia, they
gave him a place to live and refugees his family
to live and fight together at Anlong Vil
commune.
Chapter 4 : The attacked on Siem Reap

 Khmer Issarak decides to create 5 groups for

fighting with French :
• 1st: They attack the provincial hotel.

• 2nd: They attack បន្ទា យជើងខ្មៅ .

• 3rd: They attack ប៉ុស្តិខ្សែលួសin order to cut the

connection.

• 4th: Jailbreak to release prisoners.

• 5th: They attack spy and customs houses in Siem

Reap.
Chapter 7 : I come back to my country

• Chan Mul moved to Bangkok after Khmer Issarak broken

• Then he moved to Ah Ranh at 1948 because of jobless
• Siem Killed important people of Khmer Issarak.
• When Khmer people who lived in Siem knew about the story,
they tried to make cases related to this problem.
• However, Siem’s police try to cover it by taking their
evidence.
• They did this because they wanted Khmer people to argue with
each other.
• Khmer Isarak tries to find a
way back to Cambodia
• After the ministry let Khmer
Isssarak back into the
country.
• Chan Mul cannot back
Because he had a lot of
problems related to policy
• He had to wait until 29 July
1949 he can back to the
nation
• First, at Battambong new
commander of Khmer Issarak order
their people to kill him.

• Second, at Siem Reap before we talk about this let

know that Dab Chun had joined King
NorodumSihaknok on 1 October 1949
• King Norodum Sinaknok let him be captain at
Siem Reap province
• At Siem Reap Chan Mul met Dab Chun, but Dab
Chun stab him behind
• In front of him he try to be nice, but behind his
back, he had ordered someone to kill him
• After that he moved to Phnom Penh city.
• He also backed to work in policy from the
start of 1950 to 1951.

After all these facts he noted that since in the

forest and back to the district
• District’s people had a mainstream idea
• Stab, and kill each other like forest people
Chapter 10 : Does Khmer change the character?

• In 1970, all Cambodian citizens, as well as the

Khmer leaders and heroes of 18 March were still
very united in order to liberate the country from
danger until it was declared a republic in October
1979.

• In 1971, our Khmer people began to

disintegrate, they start to dismiss of some
officials for no reason
• In 1972, our Khmer were very divided, the
students at the university of law and the
monks started to demonstrate against the
government.
• Enemies bombing that killed a lot of
Cambodians.
