INTRODUCTION
Employee recognition and reward provides the opportunity to acknowledge specific effort,
dedication, contribution and outstanding performance by an employee or a work team.
Essentially, the goal of employee recognition and reward is to reinforce particular behaviors,
practices, or activities that result in better performance and positive business results
WHY RECOGNITION AND
REWARDING
The employee recognition and reward program is intended to recognize and reward
 outstanding individual and
 team performance

to provide for employee development opportunities which will enable an employee or a work
team to function more effectively on the job and/or enhance an employee’s development and
growth.
FORMAL AND INFORMAL
RECOGNITION
Both formal and informal recognition should be approached in a fair and ethical manner.
Employee recognition and reward is governed by mutual respect and is expressed regularly
through a host of simple gestures such as a sincere thank you, as well as symbolically through
receiving an award where appropriate.
The sincerity of words and actions is what gives recognition its dignity and worth.

Both forms are appropriate in fostering a sense of pride and purpose, and in reinforcing that the
efforts and the contributions of employees are appreciated. Most importantly employee
recognition and reward system is used to:

· Support a culture of performance excellence


· Reinforce standards of conduct and behavior
· Build employee engagement and promote job
satisfaction

 Encourage greater creativity and innovation;

RECOGNITION CATEGORIES
The employee recognition will be in the following categories:
 Employee Awards: Honors the most outstanding employees for individual accomplishments
and performance excellence, as well as contributions to the organization’s mission beyond
usual expectations.
 Team Awards: Honors the most outstanding work-team that has demonstrated extraordinary
commitment and professionalism for achieving results in a project that has made meaningful
contributions to the organization’s mission and strategic objectives and positive impact on the
community.

Branch Awards: Honors the most outstanding Branch that has demonstrated excellence in
project implementation resulting in effective partnerships, creative use of organizational
resources as well as innovation and effectiveness in improving the lives of the most vulnerable
in the community.
TYPES REWARD
The Employee Recognition Awards program is designed to recognize and celebrate the
outstanding contributions of employees to the achievement of the organizations mission, vision
and core values.
The awards reinforce the importance of service, innovation, teamwork, leadership, engagement
and community involvement.
The program consists of the following awards

 Performance based salary increment
 Professional seminars, workshops and conferences
 Training programs leading to degree, certificate or license 3 Employee of the Year Award
 Outstanding Team Award
 Outstanding Branch Award
NOMINATION AND
SELECTION CRITERIA
The nomination for each award should provide specific information about the individual or
work-team contributions, demonstrating outstanding performance that benefits the organization
in one or more of the following areas:
 Outstanding Performance: Demonstrated and sustained outstanding performance that
consistently exceeds expectations in both quantity and quality.
 Creativity: One-time innovation or creativity that results in cost savings or benefit, or
ongoing innovative/creative activities that benefit organizational processes and systems.

 Organizational Abilities: Extraordinary skills in leadership resulting in the accomplishment
of significant improvements, including developing a project and implementing it with
substantial success or organizational capability leading to a greater level of department or
broader effectiveness.
 Work-Team: Exceptionally work-team demonstrating excellence in project design or
implementation.
AWARD SELECTION PROCESS
CRITERIA
Following established criteria, a review and selection process shall be established by Executive
Director.
The process used should ensure consistency in the selection process and in the application of the
selection criteria.
Awards shall be presented at the end of the year. All awards, including those for professional
development activities, should be processed in accordance with year-end closing schedules.
