WHAT?
RENEWABLE ENERGY
The energy resources which can be used to
produce again and again are known as
renewable energy resources.
FORMS OF RENEWABLE ENERGY
• Biomass
• Wind energy
• Hydro power energy
• Geothermal energy
• Solar Energy
DEFINITIONS
Biomass is plant-based material used as fuel to
produce heat or electricity.
Examples are wood and wood residues, waste
industry, farms and households.
Wind energy is defined as the process of capturing
kinetic energy from wind and converting it into
usable mechanical power or electricity.
Hydropower, also known as water power, is the
use of falling or fast-running water to produce
electricity or to power machines.
Geothermal energy is the heat produced deep in
the Earth’s core.
WHAT? SOLAR ENERGY
Solar energy is any type of energy generated by the
sun.
There are two basic categories of Solar Energy:
Solar Thermal- Using the sun’s energy to heat things
like your house, water, food, etc.
Solar Electric- Turning light from the sun directly into
electricity, using solar panels.
SOLAR THERMAL
Mirrors reflect and
concentrate sunlight.
Receivers collect that solar
energy and convert it into
heat energy.
A generator can then be
used to produce electricity
from this heat energy.
SOLAR ELECTRIC
What is a Solar Panel?
Solar Panels are those devices which are used
to absorb the sun’s rays and convert them
into electricity.
How does it work ?
When the sunlight hits the PV panel, it
moves around tiny particles of silicon called
electrons.
The silicon electrons travel though the wires
that are built
into the PV panel to create energy.
HOW TO INSTALL A SOLAR PANEL
The very first step is to plan how
much solar electricity you will
need. After having the number of
panels that you are going to
install make sure to identify any
obstacles that may be wearing a
shadow on this location, The
orientation of the module is the
direction in which it is located.
The inclination is also important
to make the most of the sun.
How and why to store your solar
energy?

The electricity produced by solar panels in

excess, sometimes, and it should not be wasted.
A solar power battery, thus, stores this energy for
later use.
A good batterie should be able to store power for
5 days of operation without needing more
sunlight.
ADVANTAGE AND
DISADVANTAGE
.
ADVANTAGE

• Renewable and Pollution free

• Reduce electricity bill
• Less to no maintenance for years
• Can be installed in remote locations
• The accessibility and freeness of the sun
DISADVANTAGE
• Needs a lot of place
• High initial cost
• No solar power at the night
CONCLUSION
In face of global warming, rising fuel costs and an ever-growing demand for
energy.
Renewable energy is one of the best alternative to replace the need for the
current fossil fuels used for the electricity generation.
So it is time for a sustainable energy policy which puts consumers, the
environment, human health, and peace first.
