Matthew 22:37, 38

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord

your God with all your heart and
with all your soul and with all
your mind.’ This is the first and
greatest commandment.
Matthew 6 ERV
19
“Don’t save treasures for yourselves here on
earth. Moths and rust will destroy them. And
thieves can break into your house and steal them.
20
Instead, save your treasures in heaven, where
they cannot be destroyed by moths or rust and
where thieves cannot break in and steal them.
Matthew 6 ERV
21
Your heart will be where your treasure is.
24
“You cannot serve two masters at the same time.
You will hate one and love the other, or you will be
loyal to one and not care about the other. You
cannot serve God and Money at the same time.
Matthew 6 ERV
31
“Don’t worry and say, ‘What will we eat?’ or
‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’
32
That’s what those people who don’t know God
are always thinking about. Don’t worry, because
your Father in heaven knows that you need all
these things.
Matthew 6 ERV
33
What you should want most is God’s kingdom
and doing what he wants you to do. Then he will
give you all these other things you need.
• Jesus contrasted treasures on earth and
treasures in heaven.
• Certain treasures endure, and other
treasures fade.
• Sadly, many of us toil solely for the
treasures that will ultimately prove
worthless.
What do you treasure
most of all in life?

Where do you spend most of your

time?
Where do you put all your efforts?
1. TREASURE GOD
Seek Him above all else — v. 33a

Matthew 6:33 TPT – “So above all, constantly seek God’s

kingdom and his righteousness, then all these less important
things will be given to you abundantly.”
• We need to make seeking the Lord our first
priority in life.
• Treasuring God means your heart goes after
Him.
• You seek after the things that He values.
2. TREASURE RIGHTEOUSNESS
Pursue to live right before Him — v. 33b

Matthew 6:33 TPT – “So above all, constantly seek God’s

kingdom and his righteousness, then all these less important
things will be given to you abundantly.
• The"gift of righteousness" is where God
exchanged our unrighteousness with His
righteousness to bring us into right standing with
Himself.
• The"blessing of righteousness" is God's way of
positioning us to live under His blessings.
Proverbs 21 CEB
21
Those who pursue righteousness and
kindness will find life, righteousness, and
honor.
3. TREASURE SERVING HIM
Choose to serve our true Master — v. 24

Matthew 6 ERV
24
“You cannot serve two masters at the same time...
You cannot serve God and Money at the same time.
• Whatever we treasure, we value and serve.
• Your true master is the one you love and serve.
• God cannot coexist with a second master, as He is
the One and Only.
4. TREASURE HIS BLESSINGS
A blessing from God satisfies and makes us glad — v. 25-
33

Matthew 6 NIRV 31 So don’t worry. Don’t say, ‘What will we eat?’

Or, ‘What will we drink?’ Or, ‘What will we wear?’
32
People who are ungodly run after all those things. Your Father who
is in heaven knows that you need them.
• While we should thank God for His blessings, we
should treasure God Himself as the chief blessing.
• Earthly treasures will be taken in a second at the
moment of death, and then we face judgment. But
God alone is enough to satisfy the longings of our
hearts, both in this life and in eternity.
God is most glorified when
we are most satisfied in Him.
• Your heart moves toward what you cherish, and
God wants you to move toward Him.
• This is given as the reason why we should
pursue treasure in heaven that does not fail: If
your treasure is in heaven where God is, then
that is where your heart will be also.

Check your heart. What you
