- First let's talk a little about his almost personal
information his real name is Park Jae Sang better
known by the stage name: PSY, he was born on
December 31, nineteen seventy-seven in Banpo-
dong SEOUL SOUTH KOREA, his height is
170cm and weighs 75kg and his agency is P-
NATION.
-He is the son of a successful business executive and grew up in
Seoul's affluent Gangnam district.

-He became interested in music as a tineiger(teenager), but to


follow in his father's footsteps(footstaps) he went to the United
States to study English before beginning his business studies at
Boston University.
- After a semester of study, he
transferred to Berklee College of Music
(also in Boston). He left without
graduating and returned to South Korea
in 2000 to pursue his music career.
Under the stage name PSY - a reference
to his self-concept as a bit of a "psycho" -
he debuted as a hip-hop artist in 2001
with the album PSY from the PSYcho
World!
He later had to pay a fine due to accusations
that the album contains "inappropriate
content". Since then PSY has become a
controversial artist, adding to the fact that his
second album "Ssa 2" was banned even in
2002.

However, he gained a large following with his


style of music and is especially popular for his
sense of humour and his unique concerts, in
which he imitates singers such as Park Ji Yoon
and Lee Hyo Ri.
He became world famous thanks to his
video "Gangnam Style", which already
has more than three billion views on
YouTube.

In September, PSY received a certificate


from Guinness World Records. He broke
the world record previously set by teen
singer Justin Bieber and his video Baby
for the most views on Youtube.
On 14 April 2013, Youtube announced
that the music video "Gentleman"
reached more than 38 million views in its
first day, breaking the record for the
most watched video online in 24 hours.

including "DADDY.
• "The worldwide success of "Gangnam Style" led South Korea's
Ministry of Culture to award the artist with the prestigious Okgwan
Order of Cultural Merit in 2012.
• In addition, "Gangnam Style" made headlines again in 2014, when
it reached an unprecedented two billion views on YouTube.

He left YG Entertainment in 2018.
