Is a genre of writing that uses
literary styles and techniques
to create factually accurate
narratives.
CREATIVE NON-FICTION
 An art of bringing all the strategies of
storytelling to the narration of factual
events.
It is also different to Technical
writing

1. AUTOBIOGRAPHY – a written account of
the life of a person written by him/himself.

Example: The Diary of a Young Girl – a book


writings from the Dutch kept by Anne Frank
while she was hiding for two years during
Nazi occupation.

2. BIOGRAPHY – a detailed description or
account of a person’s life written or as told
by someone else.

3. LITERARY JOURNALISM/REPORTAGE –
a kind of journalism that reports on an
event, history or an actual case based

4. PERSONAL NARRATIVE – a narrative

5. TRAVELOGUE – a story of the
experiences encountered by someone

 Defined as “ a series of
imagined facts which illustrates
truths about human life.
Can either be short or rather
long.
DRAMA
 Uses traditional conventions of
fiction but has an additional
distinctive characteristic of being
performed

 PLOT – The sequence of events
happening in a story.

 SETTING – The place and time


where and when an event
happen

 CHARACTERISTICS – The
persons who inhabit a story

 THEME – The central idea, or


thesis, or overall message that
the story conveys.
 Plays (drama), are generally
classified into acts or major
divisions.

1. ONE-ACT PLAY – has one unit


of time, one unit of place, and
one unit of action play
 Plays (drama), are generally

2. THREE-ACT PLAY –
Showcases a longer exposition of
the theme and conflict.
 FICTION – classified as short
story or novel.

 SHORT STORY – is a brief artistic


prose from that centers on a single
main incident and intends to produce
a single dominant expression.

 NOVEL – is an extensive prose


narrative that contains chapters
and interludes.
 POINT OF VIEW – is the
vantage point or the angle from
which the readers can see how
the story unfolds.
