• A tie is used only on notes of the same pitch.
• When this notes are tied together, the duration of each
of the notes are combined together creating a longer
sound.

THE DOT
• A dot written at the right side of a note increases the
duration of a note by half of its original value.
• Therefore, the sound of a dotted note will become
longer.
