What is a habitat?

What do we call a
habitat located on
land?
Aquatic habitat is a place
underwater.
There are different
organisms that live there.
The two main kinds of aquatic habitats
are freshwater and saltwater.
These are places
where there is fresh,
flowing water.
Examples are lakes,
ponds, streams, and
rivers.
Some of the fishes that live in freshwater
habitats are milkfish, catfish, and carps.
Other organisms like shrimps, frogs, and
some turtles also live there.
There are also
plants that live in
freshwater habitats
like lotus, water
lily, and water
hyacinth.
These plants provide food
and protection to the
freshwater animals.
Common to these plants
is their circular glossy
leaves with fleshy stalk
enabling them to float in
water.
This includes oceans and
seas. The animals in
saltwater or marine
habitats are covered with
skin and scales. They have
gills that help them remove
excess salts.
Some examples of these animals are sharks,
whales, squids, and jellyfish.
There are also
plants that live in
saltwater. These are
the seagrasses,
seaweeds, and
mangrove trees.
They also serve as
feeding and
breeding places for
some animals
within the area.
