What is the Bayanihan Spirit?
RA 9418: Volunteer Act of 2007
• there must be a national policy to promote volunteer
work in public and civic affairs.
• the inculcation of volunteerism as a way of life shall
rekindle in every Filipino the time-honored tradition of
bayanihan to foster social justice, solidarity and
sustainable development
• the Philippine government's role is to enable and provide
a conducive environment for volunteer work in national
development and international cooperation.
Philippine National Volunteer Service
Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA)
• government agency mandated to promote and
coordinate volunteer programs and services in the
Philippines.
• Works with other agencies (government, NGO,
academe, corporate, media) put together resources
and align it with national priorities and assist
especially marginalized sector.

• Red Cross: Blood letting, relief assistance, preventive medicine, counseling, youth
leadership
