• A blend of hardscape and softscapes can be seen in the recess spaces i.e the courtyards of NIFT, Hyderabad.
• Most of the softscape cover consists of trimmed grass lawns, which enable vistas across all directions of the
courtyard, thus enabling the user to take in and perceive the spatial features of the campus.

MAIN BLOCK :
The central courtyard of the main building has hardscape elements predominating,
in form of stairs, which adhere to the natural site contours. They assist gatherings of
students, making the heart of the campus very lively as if the heart beams with life.
THE SETBACK:
• The setbacks ( spaces between circambulatory pathways and the built forms) have dense tree cover filled
with native trees which don’t seem like being tended to like one finely tends to the softscapes to create an
aesthetical composition.
• Their purpose is to attenuate heat and provide shade in the semi-arid environment, which they do very
effectively.
• The height of the plants in this region is completely assorted.
THE ANNEXE:
• The annex is a rather simple complex, in comparison to the main block.
• A typical central courtyard is surrounded by classrooms and ancillary spaces.
• Just like the main block’s courtyard, levels come into play, with the trimmed grass lawn cover dominating the softscape
spread.
• An abstract statue is located centrally in this courtyard.
• Benches are provided to make this courtyard have more human interaction in this space, thus carrying forward the concept
of a lively core space.
