至。据说,中国最早的冬至是由一位叫周封的圣人在使用日
晷时发现的。虽然冬至节在汉代非常突出,但在唐朝(公元

China's Winter Solstice has been celebrated since the Han Dynasty (206 BC – 220 AD). It is

using a sundial. Though prominently celebrated during the Han Dynasty, it was during the Tang
(618 – 907 AD) and Song Dynasty (960 – 1279 AD) that the festival truly prospered. Officials
were granted 7-day holidays and the common people would reunite with family members at
home as they worshipped the gods and their ancestors, and paid respects to their ancestors.
Since then, Winter Solstice (Dongzhi) has been an important festival in China. There is an old
saying that Dongzhi is more important than Chinese New Year.
