冬至节庆祝冬季的开始，这一天标志着日历上的一个

中国自汉代（公元前 206 年至公元 220 年）起就开始庆祝冬
至。据说，中国最早的冬至是由一位叫周封的圣人在使用日
晷时发现的。虽然冬至节在汉代非常突出，但在唐朝（公元
Customs 618 - 907 年）和宋朝（公元 960 - 1279 年）才真正兴盛起来。
当时，官员们可以放假 7 天，而普通百姓则与家人在家中团

至便成为中国的一个重要节日。俗话说，冬至比春节还重要。
China's Winter Solstice has been celebrated since the Han Dynasty (206 BC – 220 AD). It is
Cuisine said that the earliest winter solstice in China was discovered by a sage called Zhou Feng when
using a sundial. Though prominently celebrated during the Han Dynasty, it was during the Tang
(618 – 907 AD) and Song Dynasty (960 – 1279 AD) that the festival truly prospered. Officials
were granted 7-day holidays and the common people would reunite with family members at
home as they worshipped the gods and their ancestors, and paid respects to their ancestors.
Since then, Winter Solstice (Dongzhi) has been an important festival in China. There is an old
saying that Dongzhi is more important than Chinese New Year.
