Application Interface
• An application Interface is a set of features an application provides so that
a user may supply input to receive output from the program. For example:
If you look a Microsoft Word as an application interface it includes central
area for typing and adding feedback on your screen .
Types of Application
Interface
There are 3 main types of application interface which are
-Graphical User Interface (GUI)
-Command Line Interface (CLI)
Menu Driven user Interface
Graphical User Interface
• GUI can be said to be a form of user interface that allows users to interact with
electronic devices through graphical icons and visual indicators such as
secondary notation. Note: In many applications, GUI’s are used instead of text
based Uis, which are based on typed command labels or text navigation.
• Examples of GUI include macOS, Microsoft Windows
• GUI also has four features which are constituted into four main parts:
Windows, Icons, Menus and pointers. They are also the main components of
the interface, also known as WIMP system.
Command Line
Interface
A command line interface allows the user to interact with computer by typing in commands, close
commands that an instruction given to a computer.. You can also say it is a text based interface where you
input commands that interact with a computer operating system.
Examples of CLI: macOS: Mac TERMINAL
Windows: Command Prompt
Linux: Linux Bash Shell etc
Benefits of Using CLI:
Speed: CLI enables you to execute commands quickly
Resources: CLI requires fewer computing resources to execute commands than a graphical interface
Menu Driven User
Interface
A menu driven interface is a type of user interface where users interact with a
program or system through a series of menus. These menus present options or
commands that the user can select, typically through the use of a pointer, touchscreen
or keyboard simplifying the interaction with the system.
Advantages/Benefits of
Application Interface
A well designed application interface encourages customer engagement, which leads to becoming more
loyal to the brand.
Enhanced user experience: Hci focuses on creating intuitive and user-friendly interfaces, which can
improve the overall user experiences and make technology more enjoyable to use
Increased productivity: A well designed HCI can streamline tasks and water flows, leading to increased
productivity for users.
Conclusion
Cleverly designed computer interfaces motivate users to use
digital devices in modern technological age. The interface is a
crucial HCI component that can enhance the overall user
interaction experience.
