Importance of the Chief Usa
• KAB Scouts look up to the older boy (chief
Usa) as a natural leader. He serves as
the model of the KAB Scouts.
• It gives the KL/AKL the boy’s point of view.
• It gives the KAB Scout an older male
contact in the program no matter how
small the age difference.
• It provides a trained assistant for the AKL.
Aspects to be considered in the
selection of Chief Usa
• A Boy Scout who had experience as a
member of a Kawan is preferred.
• He should not have any leadership
position in the troop.
• Availability and willingness to serve.
• Leadership potential.
Role of the CU in the CG and the
Kawan
• He meets with the KL or AKL to plan and
prepare the activities for the CG meeting.
• He leads the Weekly Color Group meeting
under the supervision of the AKL.
• He shares responsibility with the AKL in all
Color Group activity.
• He assist the AKL in leading the CG at
Kawan meetings.
• He helps the AKL prepare the meeting.

upon during the monthly KL meeting.
• Review Advancement Chart to determine
the requirements that are most needed.
• Informal Training: AKL trains the CU on
opening & closing ceremony, handicrafts,
song and yell
