communication skills appropriate to a client’s
intimate concerns, problems, or aspirations.

consider.
Identify the goals of counseling
•The goal of the counseling is to enable
the individual to make critical decisions
regarding alternative courses of actions
without outside influence. Counseling will
help individuals obtain individuals obtain
information and to clarify emotional
concern that may interfere with or be
related to the decision involved.
Identify ethical principles of counseling
The five bedrock principles of autonomy,
justice, beneficence, nonmaleficence, and
fidelity are each vital in and of themselves
to a healthy counseling relationship. By
exploring an ethical dilemma with regard
to these principles, a counselor may come
to a better understanding of the
conflicting issues
