PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

The learner independently creates/provides a quality and marketable


product and/or service in Entrepreneurship as prescribed in the TESDA Training
Regulation.

After reading this lesson, the learners should be able to:


 1. discuss the relevance of the course;
 2. explain the key concepts of common competencies;
 3. explain the core competencies in Entrepreneurship; and
 4. explore job opportunities for Entrepreneurship as a career.
What Is a Business Plan?
A business plan is a written document that describes in detail how a
business—usually a startup—defines its objectives and how it is to go about
achieving its goals. A business plan lays out a written roadmap for the firm from
marketing, financial, and operational standpoints.

Business plans are important documents used for the external audience as
well as the internal audience of the company. For instance, a business plan is used
to attract investment before a company has established a proven track record or to
secure lending. They are also a good way for companies' executive teams to be on
the same page about strategic action items and to keep themselves on target
towards the set goals.

 It involves seeking opportunities for a market,
establishing and operating a business out of
opportunity, and assessing its risk and
rewards through close monitoring of the
operations.

Entrepreneurship Defined
 Entrepreneurship is the process of designing, launching and running a
new business, which is often initially a small business, or as the
"capacity and willingness to develop, organize and manage a business
venture along with any of its risks to make a profit. The people who
create these businesses are often referred to as entrepreneurs.
 While definitions of entrepreneurship typically focus on the launching
and running of businesses, due to the high risks involved in launching a
start-up, a significant proportion of start-up businesses have to close
due to "lack of funding, bad business decisions, an economic crisis, lack
of market demand, or a combination of all of these.

1. To prepare students for livelihood even before college.
2. Entrepreneurship education aids students from all socioeconomic backgrounds to think
outside the box and nurture unconventional talents and skills.
3. Entrepreneurship develops their initiative and helps them to be more creative and self-
confident in whatever they undertake and to act in a socially responsible way.
4. It exposes students to numerous opportunities to learn how to think critically and
analyze the pieces on the board.
5. Being aware of all the important factors and seeing how they affect each other is the
foundation of a smart decision-making process.
6. Students have to be exposed to real-world examples and learn from their own experience.
7. Entrepreneurship education requires students to be innovative, creative and collaborative
with others.

 The word “ Entrepreneur” has a French origin and


was coined from the words entre, which means “
between”, and prendre, which means “to take”
 entreprendre, meaning “to do something” or “to

undertake.
 refer to someone who undertakes a business venture.

 An enterprise is created by an entrepreneur. The

process of creation is called “entrepreneurship”

 Is a unique individual who has the innate
ability and extraordinary dedication to
establish and manage a business,
acknowledging all the risks and reaping its
rewards.

already added or created value out of an

Relevance of Entrepreneurship to an
Organization
 1. Development of Managerial capabilities- this means that one of the
benefits an entrepreneur gets is to develop his managerial skills.
 2. Creation of Organizations- which means that because of
entrepreneurships many organizations will exist.
 3. Improving standard of living- this means that entrepreneurship
can lift up the economic status of an individual.
 4. Means of economic development- this means that not only the life
of the entrepreneur is improved but also the society where the
business is located.
Career Opportunities of Entrepreneurship
 1. Business Consultant – with the expertise in the field of
entrepreneurship, he can be a very good source of advices to other
entrepreneurs and would be businessmen.
 2. Teacher-a graduate of an entrepreneurship can use his knowledge
in teaching.
 3. Researcher- the entrepreneur can be employed as a researcher by
an enterprise.
 4. Sales – the entrepreneurship graduate can apply as as salesman.
 5. Business Reporter – the entrepreneur being expert in the field, can
be employed as a business reporter

 They want to do things in their own way and start to feel
agitated when controlled by the powers- that – be.

and ask some help from others.
 They delegate and hire potential employees to do the

 They now focus on the big picture and strategic direction
of their business rather than in generating sales and

1. TECHNOPRENEUR
 An entrepreneur who puts technology at the
core of his or her business model.
 Another world changing technopreneur is
Elon Musk, popularly considered as a tech
geek and who happens to be the CEO of
Tesla, PayPal and SpaceX. Other notable
examples are Bill Gates of Microsoft, Sergey
Brin and Larry Page of Google, Jack Dorsey
of Twitter, Steve Jobs of Apple and Kevin
Systrom of Instagram.

2. SOCIAL ENTREPRENEUR
 One who takes advantage of the country’s social problems
and turn them to profitable institutions with the intention
of helping the disadvantage community rather than
making a profit.

 An entrepreneur in a large company or corporation who
is tasked to think, establish, and run a new big idea or
project.
 Usually the product managers or the business
development managers of a company.
 An intrapreneur is an employee with entrepreneurial skills and is
responsible for developing innovative ideas, products, or services
for their company. Their goal is to enhance the sustainability of
the business and help it stay ahead in the competition.

4. EXTRAPRENEUR
 Who hops from one company to another to act as the innovation
champion, providing and efficient solutions.
 According to Jason Clay, Senior VP at WWF, extrapreneurs can be
described as “change agents” that “solve problems by moving
between companies, organizations and sectors, spreading ideas and
solutions from one to another like bees pollinating flowers”.
What is the role of Extrapreneur?
 For SMEs, extrapreneurs are the best way of ensuring acceleration
without creating the need for high levels of investment capital.
Especially in times when credit is limited or expensive,
extrapreneurs help to spread the risks.

5. Imitating entrepreneurs- they are those who don’t create new


things but only follow the ideas of other entrepreneurs.
6. Innovative entrepreneur- they are those who always make
new things by thinking of new ideas.
7. Fabian entrepreneurs- they are those skeptical. They don’t
initiate but follow only after they are satisfied.
8. Drone entrepreneur- they are those who lives on the labor of
others. They are die-hard conservatives even ready to suffer
the loss of business.
