What is percent concentration?

 One way to describe the concentration of a solution is by the percent of a solute in the solvent.
The percent can further be determined in one of two ways: the ratio of the mass of the solute divided by the
mass of the solution or the ratio of the volume of the solute divided by the volume of the solution.
Mass percent

 Mass percent is the mass of the element or solute divided by the mass of the compound or solute. The result
is multiplied by 100 to give a percent.
Volume percent

 volume percentage is a measure of the concentration of a substance in a solution. It is expressed as the ratio
of the volume of the solute to the total volume of the solution multiplied by 100.
What is molarity?

 Molarity (M) is the amount of a substance in a certain volume of solution. Molarity is defined as the moles
of a solute per liters of a solution. Molarity is also known as the molar concentration of a solution.
Calculation & SI unit

 To calculate the molarity of a solution, you divide the moles of solute by the volume of the solution
expressed in liters.
 Molality is a property of a solution and is defined as the number of moles of solute per kilogram of solvent.
The SI unit for molality is mol/kg.
