TABLE
WHAT IS FREQUENCY?
Frequency is the number of times an observation
or a particular value appears in a data set.

WHAT IS FREQUENCY DISTRIBUTION

TABLE?
It is a systematics way of presenting data using a
table.
Definitions
Range- a measure of spread in Statistics. It is the
difference between the greatest value and the least
value in a set of numerical data.
Class Interval- number of classes
Class size- obtained by dividing the range by the
class interval
Lower Limit- the smallest value in the class
Upper Limit- the highest value in the class

TABLE
The following is a list of shoe sizes of 35 boys
7 5 4 4 6 5 4
8 5 5 4 3 5 6
5 3 6 3 2 8 5
6 6 7 4 7 4 5
4 4 2 5 5 6 4
Step 1: Construct a table with three columns.
The shoe sizes maybe be groups as follows: 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-
8.

Step 2. After constructing a table with three columns, go
through the list of data values and place one tally marked at
the appropriate place in the second column for every data.
Continue the process until all data values in the list are
tallied.
Shoe size Tally Frequency

Step 3. Count the number of tally marks for each
interval and write the count in the third column.

3. Class size = R/i 1. Choose the number of classes of the distribution.
2. Get the range or the difference between the

4. Use the lowest score as the starting point if the class size is
even. If the class size is odd, use the multiple of the class size,
22-27 II 2
which is less than or equal to the lowest score, as the starting
point or the first lower limit.
28-33 IIII-I 5 5. Determine the next lower limit by adding the class size.
6. The upper limit of the first interval is determined by
subtracting one from the second lower value. Repeat the process
34-39 III 3
to complete the intervals.
7. The lower class limit is the lowest value within the interval.
40-45 II 2 8. Get the tally of each score.
9. Determine the corresponding number in each tally. The
number of times the value appears in the distribution is called
i=6 the frequency.

Answer the following:
1. How many class intervals are there?
2. What is the lowest class interval? Highest class
interval?
3. What is the class size?
4. Which score interval has the highest frequency?
Lowest frequency?
Direction: Make a frequency distribution table
using the data below.
1. Jessica is a “ plantita”, she surveyed twenty
households in their barangay and found out the
number of varieties of plants they own. The
results are:
3, 0, 1, 4, 4, 1, 2, 0, 2, 2, 0, 2, 0, 1, 3, 1, 2,
1, 1, 3
