Air Temperature Data in

the Philippines and Its
Significance
•Air consists of gas molecules, which are combinations
of two or more atoms.

•As they move, they collide with one another and with
solid surfaces.

•The more energy of motion the molecules have, the

higher the temperature you feel in the air.
The Philippines, located in Southeast Asia, experiences
a tropical maritime climate characterized by high
temperatures and humidity.
The highest ever recorded temperature was at 42.2
degrees Celsius on 11 May 1969. This was in
Tuguegarao, Cagayan.

On May 11, 1969. Muñoz in Nueva Ecija logged the

second highest temperature at 37.5 degrees Celsius,
followed by Dagupan City in Pangasinan at 37.2
degrees Celsius.
The lowest temperature (as officially
recorded by the PAGASA): Baguio, 6.3 °C
(43.3 °F), January 18, 1961.

AGRICULTURE
Farmers use temperature data to determine optimal planting times
for crops. Different crops have specific temperature requirements
and knowing the local temperature patterns helps optimize
agricultural practices.
WEATHER
Meteorologists use temperature data to forecast weather

conditions. Changes in temperature can indicate
approaching storms, cold fronts, or heatwaves, allowing
people to prepare for adverse weather events
HEALTH AND SAFETY
High temperatures can lead to heat-related illnesses,
while cold temperatures can cause hypothermia.
Monitoring temperature data helps authorities issue
warnings and advisories to protect public health.
Understanding air temperature is fundamental to
making informed decisions in numerous fields and
adapting to the changing climate.
