WHAT IS ETHICS ?
 A set of quarts or moral principles
which behaviour and beliefs are
evaluated as right or wrong.
 Tell people how to act and respond
in situation in which they found
themselves.
 It is an enquiry in to the existing
situation and offering solution.
ETHICAL THEORIES

 To analyze the response of people.


 Ethical problems do not have clear
and unique solution.

Descriptive Ethics
Normative Ethics
Applied Ethics
Meta Ethics
DESCRIPTIVE ETHICS
 Also called comparative Ethics.
 Deals with development of
morals.
 Does not prescribe or
recommend right action not
does it dwell.
NORMATIVE ETHICS
 Branch of philosophy.
 Prescribe rules of behaviour in a moral context.

Classified as Two:
o Deontological theories
focus solely only the inherent moral quality of
an action.
o Teleological theories
concerned with being good rather than the
rightness of actions .
APPLIED ETHICS
Deals with practical application
of normative ethical theories .
It is characterized by the
specificity of the moral question
and right action.
META ETHICS
 It is an abstract way of probing in to
the nature of morality.
 It tries to find answers to more
fundamental questions like “ what is
meaning of right”.
 It also attempt to discover the source
and foundation of moral values.
 It is silent about day to day moral
dilemmas.
