 Results of Laboratory Testing
 Disposition of NACE Ballot
Introduction
 Consideration of NACE ballots for commonly used (non-
sour service alloys) was considered by a joint industry
group organized by Honeywell/InterCorr in 2005.
 It included three alloys: S17400 along with two other
materials: UNS S31600 and UNS N05500.
 Initial efforts included a review of the published literature
to better define H2S limits and possible test conditions.
 All methods and results were presented in NACE
conference paper #08099.
 Note: Most of the literature data did not conform to the
present requirements per NACE MR0175/ISO15156

UNS S17400 Survey Data
 Data for three material conditions were obtained
(H1150, H1075 and H1050).
 Hardness levels for these three conditions were
approximately 32 HRC, 37 HRC and 38 HRC,
respectively.
 Examination of this data focused on the H1150 condition
at 32 HRC since this best represented the condition
utilized for sour service applications.
 Most of the tests were conducted at 23 C with varying
pH, partial pressure H2S and chloride concentration with
C-rings and tensile specimens.
