What is a healthy mind?
Mind health is a balanced mental and emotional state which allows a person
to be productive during their day. When the balance is disrupted, it can be difficult
to function positively.
Good mental health checklist :
you are confident when faced with new situations or people,
you feel optimistic,
you don't always blame yourself,
you set goals,
you feel good about yourself,
you have good self esteem.
What exactly is stress?
Stress is a feeling of
emotional or physical tension.
It can come from any event or
thought that makes you feel
frustrated, angry, or
nervous. Stress is your body's
reaction to a challenge or
demand.
Positive stress / Eustress

Eustress produces positive feelings of


excitement, fulfillment, meaning,
satisfaction, and well-being.

Benefits:
o Stress can help the immune system.
o Stress can improve memory and
learning.
o Stress can improve decision making.
Negative stress/ Distress
Stress that continues without
relief can lead to a condition
called distress – a negative stress
reaction. Distress can disturb the
body's internal balance or
equilibrium, leading to physical
symptoms such as headaches, an
upset stomach, elevated blood
pressure, chest pain, sexual
dysfunction, and problems
sleeping.

How to combat stress?
Learn and practice relaxation techniques,
Exercise regularly,
Eat healthy,
Learn to manage your time more
effectively,
 Learn to say “NO”,
Make time for hobbies,
Get enough rest and sleep,
Seek out social support,
Don't rely on alcohol, drugs, or
compulsive behaviors to reduce stress,
Seek treatment with a psychologist or
other mental health professional trained.
