NATIONAL AIDS CONTROL PROGRAM
• The National AIDS control program was launched in the year 1987.
• The Ministry of Health and Family welfare has set up National AIDS
Control Organisation(NACO) as a separate wing to implement and
closely monitor the components of the program.
• The aim of the programme is to prevent further transmission of HIV
infection and to minimize the socio economic impact resulting from
HIV infection.
NACP-IV
• It was launched on 12 February 2017
• Total budget outlay Rs.14295 crores
GOAL:-
To HALT and REVERSE the epidemic in India over next 5 years by integrating programmes for prevention and
care, support and treatment.
OBJECTIVES:-
Reduce new infections by 50% (2007 Baseline of NACP III)
1. Provide comprehensive care and support to all persons living with HIV/AIDS
Services provided are:
1. Anti-retroviral Therapy
• 1St line ART
• Alternate 1st line ART
• Second line ART
National Paediatric HIV/AIDS initiative
Targeted Interventions For high risk groups
Condom promotion
