1. Replacement of solutions
AA) Check TRO solutions life time
Replacement interval : Indicator : 3 months / Buffer solution : 1 year

2. Priming of solutions

BB) Press “PRIME” Button and “ENTER” Button

Check each reagent is completely drawn into the cuvette

3. Cleaning of the check valve

AA) TRO reagent is not fed into the measurement cuvette Check Valve Flushing Procedure

Put check v/v in warm water for 20min.

until flushing inside.
Remove all tubes attached
to Check v/v from OPTICS

BB) Use 10cc syringe to check them whether they are stuck or not

CC) If check valves are stuck, It needs to be in warm water for 20 min

4. Keep clean the cuvette

AA) Turn the cuvette counterclockwise

BB) After cleaning cuvette, please reassemble it in the reverse order

5

5. T-strainer Cleaning

AA) Disconnect the top of the T-strainer and regulator from the tubing and clear of the case
BB) Clean the T-strainer screen and replace and then be sure to tighten the bowl of the strainer

 Strainer

NO. CHECK LIST TROUBLES

Cleaning of the Y-strainer on • TRO Sensor Error

SWFU • Injection Flow Low

7
Main Ballasting _ Before Ballasting
 Ready for Heavy Muddy Seawater
. Before entering a port, the filter elements must be kept clean.

 Cleaning by the water jet with high pressure (10 bar ~ 16bar)

Caution!!
Clean the filter elements from outside to inside.

8
Main Ballasting _ Before Ballasting
 Ready for Heavy Muddy Seawater
. Before entering a port, the filter elements must be kept clean.

 If the elements are contaminated by mineral deposits, organic impurities and rust,
the elements can be cleaned by use of cleaning agents with a pH value between
3 to 9.

The cleaning agent ; Citric acid solution base for acid cleaning
Caustic soda solution base for alkaline cleaning

9
Main Ballasting _ Before Ballasting
 Ready for Heavy Muddy Seawater
. Caution!!
 After operation, the filter is always fully filled with water to prevent hard scale and rust.
 Exchange seawater in the filter to fresh water, if long term standby of the filter is required.

10
Main Ballasting _ Before Ballasting
 Valve Line-up
. Check the valve line-up for ballasting
. Click button to check the status of the valve line-up
Open or close the valves by VRCS according to the valve line-up
[Old HMI]
and then change the control mode from VRCS to BWTS.

Note)

Ballast valves except main FCV, inlet/outlet valve

of main filter and bypass valve involved in BWTS
operation can be controlled by VRCS even if
switched to BWTS mode.

11
Main Ballasting _ During Ballasting

 Air Venting at start-up

When the discharge pressure of the SW Feed Pump is not reached to the rated pressure(5~6bar).

 Check the valves on the suction line is opened.

 Vent air from the SW Feed Pump until the rated discharge pressure is reached.

 Vent air from the strainer in SWFU

 Air Venting at start-up

. Always open the isolation valve for the auto vent valve during operation.

13

 TRO value Low
. Is the sampling flow rate suitable for the TRO sensor ? (11 ~ 13)

 No.
 Adjust the sampling flow rate

 Unbalance Current on the rectifier

. Compare the shunt current values on the MIMIC to actual currents on
the output power cables of the rectifiers.

 If the value on the MIMIC and the measured value are almost the same,
Inspect the inside of the electrolyzer for which the current value is significantly lower
than the others.

If scale is accumulated between the electrodes and the masking plates,

remove the scale and perform the acid cleaning per the maintenance manual.

15
Main Ballasting _ During Ballasting

 High Voltage on the rectifier

Rectifier High High
. Check salinity or temperature of the feeding seawater Model Voltage(V)
Low salinity(< 15PSU), Low temperature (< 10 ℃)
35D 133
. If the salinity and the temperature are OK, 50D 175
inspect the inside of the electrolyzer. 100D 175

If scale is accumulated between the electrodes, the masking plates,

remove the scale and perform the acid cleaning per the maintenance manual.

Main Deballasting

• Before Deballasting

 NA Tank Level for Neutralization Agent

 Injection Solenoid Valve in NU

 NA Consumption

17
Main Deballasting _ Before Deballasting

 NA Tank Level for Neutralization Agent

. The tank level  Keep > 60%

. Before sailing, prepare Neutralization Agent at least 100% capacity of the NA tank

 Recommend solution type

Sodium Thiosulfate as the Neutralization Agent
for consistent neutralization
performance.

18
Main Deballasting _ Before Deballasting

 NA Consumption

. To optimize the NA consumption

 Before starting deballasting, change the set values for the stroke of NA pump.
The residual oxidant depends on the retention day in the ballast tank

TRO Decay(reference only)
