2. OBJECTIVES

• To find out various Welfare Facilities provided to Employees by the NTPC Limited
Vindhyachal.
• To understand about the various Statutory and Non - Statutory Welfare Measures
adopted by the NTPC Limited Vindhyachal.
• To find out the satisfaction levels about the various Welfare Measures being
provided to Employees by the NTPC Limited Vindhyachal.
• To know about the awareness of Welfare Policies adopted by NTPC Limited
Vindhyachal amongst Employees.
• To offer suggestions, if any regarding improvement in Welfare Measures.
3. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

The employees of Vindhyachal Project i.e Operational Staff and Administrative Staff
consisting of both Executives and Non Executives employees.

4. FINDINGS
• 41% of respondents are Executives and 59% of respondents are Non-Executives.
• Out of total respondents 90% are Male and 10% are Female Employees.
• 93% of respondents are Married and rest 7% are Unmarried Employees.
• 50% of respondents are Graduates, 32% are Undergraduates and 18% are
Postgraduates.
• 44% of the Employees in NTPC Limited Vindhyachal have age that falls under the
46-55 years, 21% Employees age falls under 26-35 years, 20% Employees age
falls under 36-45 years, 11% Employees are aged 56 and Above and rest
4% of employees are aged below 25 Years.
• 67% of the Employees are having experience of more than 11 years in NTPC Limited
14% Employee’s experience falls under 4-7 Years, 10% Employees are
having experience of 8-11 Years and only 9% Employees experience falls under
0-3 Years.
FINDINGS CONTINUED…
• 70% respondents say that they are Fully Aware about the Welfare Policy of NTPC
Limited 28% are those who are Partially Aware about the Welfare Policy of NTPC
Limited and 2% are those employees who are Completely Unaware about the
Welfare Policy of NTPC Limited.
• 62% of respondents have opinion that Sometimes management is committed
towards resolution of their grievances, 23% of them choose that management is
Always committed regarding resolution of grievances, 12% of them choose that
management is Rarely committed towards resolution of grievances and rest 3% of
them are those respondents who choose that management is never committed
towards resolution of grievances.
• 62% respondents say that they come across stress at workplace while 38%
respondents say that they not come across stress at workplace.
FINDINGS CONTINUED…
• 73% of respondents say that Goals and Objectives of the organization are made
clear to them while 27% have response that Goals and Objectives of the
organization are not made clear to them.
• 76% are satisfied with salary package provided by the NTPC Limited while rest 24%
are dissatisfied by the salary package provided by the NTPC Limited.
5. LIMITATIONS

• People are not cooperative at same time due to their busy schedule.
• There may be possibility of providing false information by the respondents.
• The information regarding the Company might be inadequate due to non-availability
of data or due to confidential matters.
• Some of the suggestions were formed based on Employee’s response.
• The suggestion was given by some of the respondents regarding the last questions,
Question No. 20 and 21 that a column of “ Can’t Say” should be added, but it was
not possible to alter the changes as more than half respondents have already given
their response.
6. SUGGESTIONS

• The existing Canteen Facilities should be improved in terms of Serving, Hygiene


and Cleanliness. Indian Coffee House has been catering in NTPC Limited Vindhyachal
the interests for National Food Chains like Barbeque Nation, Mc Donalds can be
explored so as to cater young employees.
• NTPC Limited being a Maharatna Company should try to build a Super Speciality
Hospitals wherein medical need of all the employees can be catered which may
include Trauma Centre, Burn Centre, Rehabilitation Hospital etc.
• Employees are not fully aware about the existing welfare activities as there
awareness may be restricted to Canteen, Medical, Housing and Economic Services.
So the management should make the employees aware about all Welfare Schemes.
• There should be formation of Stress Management Committee which would look on
for the measures to curb stress amongst the Employees.
SUGGESTIONS CONTINUED…

• The company should improve the Grievance Handling System so that they can
increase the Employee Satisfaction.
• The company can increase the Safety Measures, however the Fire Extinguishers
are installed and Emergency Exit is available but it is suggested that Fire Alarm,
Water Sprinklers can be added in the organization.
• Since location of plant is much interior the efforts should be made by the company
to provide a city-like amenities which may include Shopping Mall, Clubs etc.
• As to regard with the Housing Facilities there should be proper schedule of
Repairing and Maintenance of Electrical and Power Transmission equipments
along with the Water Supply wherein a measure can be adopted to facilitate the
check-up of such facilities on weekly basis.
