1. Costal / anterior / ventral
surface
Directed medially and forwards
Also known as sub-scapular fossa
It has 3 longitudinal ridges.
Surfaces
2. Dorsal surface
•spine of scapula divides it into
supraspinous fossa &
infraspinous fossa

•These 2 fossas are connected by

spino-glenoid notch
( which is situated lateral to root of spine)
Borders
1. Superior Border:
Thin and shorter.
Near the root of the coracoid process it
presents the suprascapular notch.

2. Lateral Border:
Thick. Upper end infra glenoid tubercle.

3. Medial Border:
Thin. From superior angle to inferior angle.
Angles
1. Superior angle
2. Inferior angle
3. Lateral/glenoid angle
Processes:

Spinous process : its post border is called crest of spine

Acromion process

Coracoid process
Side determination:
oLateral angle has the glenoid cavity.

oDorsal surface is convex-----it has spine

which divides it into supra-spinous &
infra spinous fossa.
oCostal surface is concave.

oLateral border runs from lateral angle to

inferior angle.
