and is large enough to accommodate 50,000 spectators! Why was Colosseum built? The Colosseum was mainly built for citizens entertainment. In the colosseum they performed new skills of war and battle. The people who fought were known as gladiators who at times even fought with man-eaters like lions,tigers,cheetahs,leopards and many more. The fights even use to go up to 100 days and fought day and night tirelessly! Gladiators Though the battles use to do be bloody and seeing the sight of someone dead was painful.
Although in those ancient days these fights
were legal but now they are not and now they are no such fights held in any stadium. How was the colosseum destroyed? The colosseum was destroyed because of a massive earthquake which occured in 1349 which devastated half of the grand colosseum. It was also destroyed by pollution and fire/flame.
