Objectives

school and community partnership; and
• Cited examples of school – community
partnerships.

What Can the Community Do for
Schools?
• Contribute time, effort, and resources (i.e.
Brigada Eskwela, Do Day)
• Historic, elders, and other community resources
can be used as resources for learning.
• Participate in the curriculum development or
curriculum streamlining as well as the other
school activities and programs (i.e. School
Reading Remediation, Learning Enrichment
Programs, Youth Development Programs)
What Can the Community Do for
Schools?
• Business establishments and other offices in the
community can serve as training ground for
learners (OJT)
• provide community service and they participate
and support extension and other activities of the
school.
What can Schools Do for Communities?
• allow the community to use school resources
• provide shelter and assistance to local (even
foreign) victims
• provide technical assistance
• assist the local and national government in
implementing their programs
• facilitate local and national elections, community
meetings/assemblies, local celebrations, sports
league, and other community related activities.
• provide research and extension activities

Legal Basis
• RA 9155 (Governance of Basic Education Act,
Section E (10)) - “establishing school and community
networks and encouraging the active participation of teacher
organizations, non-academic personnel of public schools,
and PTA”.
• Batas Pambansa Blg. 232 otherwise known as the
Education Act of 1982, section 7 - “every educational
institution shall provide for the establishment of appropriate
bodies through which the members of the educational
community may discuss relevant issues and communicate
information and suggestions for assistance and support of
the school and for the promotion of their common interest”.
Legal Basis
▫ RA 8525 (Adopt A-School Program Act). It allows “private
entities to assist a public school, whether elementary, secondary, or
tertiary, …in, but not limited to the following areas: staff and faculty
development for training and further discussion; construction of
facilities; upgrading of existing facilities, provision of books,
publications, and other instructional materials; and modernization of
instructional technologies.”
▫ Philippine Education for All (EFA) 2015 Plan. It aimed to
improve quality of basic education for every Filipino by end 2015
stating “schools shall continue to harness local resources and facilitate
involvement of every sector of the community in the school
improvement process.” This plan was extended in Education for All
Beyond 2015 – Agenda 2030. This agenda has 7 new educational
targets from 2015 to 2030 that must involve education stakeholders
which in essence is school – community partnership.

1. Define partnership.
2. Identify potential partners.
3. MOA signing.
4. Work effectively with community partners.
