PREPOSITION
• IS A WORD THAT SHOWS THE RELATIONSHIP
BETWEEN A NOUN OR A PRONOUN AND SOME
OTHER WORDS IN THE SENTENCE.
PREPOSITIONS ARE USED TO
SHOW:
1. LOCATION - AT, IN, ON, BEHIND, IN FRONT OF
• EXAMPLES: GEORGINA SAT IN FRONT OF BORGY.
• THE SCARED LITTLE BOY HID BEHIND THE CURTAIN.

2. DIRECTION - TO, FROM, DOWN, OUT, UP


• EXAMPLES: THOSE TOURISTS CAME FROM NEIGHBORING ASIAN COUNTRIES.
• MANY MOUNTAINEERS CLIMBED DOWN MT. APO.

3. ASSOCIATION - OF, FOR, WITH


• EXAMPLES:
• THE SIXTH GRADERS SANG WITH THEIR TEACHER. THEY OFFERED GIFTS FOR THE
CELEBRANT.

Ex:

Usually, no comma is needed if a short phrase comes at the


beginning of a sentence.
