 WHAT IS PREPOSITION?

 Preposition is a word that is

used to link noun or pronoun
with other words in the
sentence.
EXAMPLE:
The cat is under the table.
The rat is in the corner.
The boy behind the bush.
THREE TYPES OF
PREPOSITION
 PREPOSITION OF TIME
• preposition that describes when
an event occurred
(in, on, at, since, from, to, until)
Examples:
My birthday falls in April.
My plane leaves at noon.
The week begins on Sunday.
The movie showed from August to/until
October.
 PREPOSITION OF PLACE
• preposition that describes where an
event or thing
(under, above, in, on, at, below)
Examples:
The ball is under the table.
Hang that picture above the couch.
There is a wasp in the room.
The books are on the table.
She was waiting at the corner.
The valley is below sea-level.
 PREPOSITION OF DIRECTION
• preposition that describes in which
direction or thing

(towards, next to, across, close to)

Examples:
They were travelling towards London.
Their house is next to the church.
Here house is across from mine.
My uncle lives close to the supermarket.
