Introduction
• In the TRIZ methodology, "Resources" play a pivotal role in problem-solving
and idea generation. While these resources can be utilized directly, there are
situations where they might require modification or further development.
Moreover, challenges are linked to the efficient utilization of resources,
including the time and effort needed for their collection.

• Generative AI stands out as a promising tool to tackle these challenges. It has

the potential to markedly decrease search time and broaden search scope. It
also serves as a means to pinpoint root causes, analyze the progression of
technological systems, and investigate data spanning diverse industries.

The point of view of "Resources" in TRIZ.
• [Self] The first category, individual resources, forms the bedrock of
problem-solving by drawing upon personal memories, education, skills, and
brainstormed insights. Observational resources.

• [System] The second category, offer insights from analyzing existing

systems (Substance, Field, Time, Space, Information and Functional
resources) and environments, guiding thinkers toward improvements and
innovative solutions.

• [Search] The third category, research-based resources, provides a broader

perspective through scientific foundations, patents, technological systems,
and cross-industry insights.

Challenges in Resource Collection
• Challenges in collecting and utilizing resources for TRIZ
• Collecting these resources traditionally involves time-consuming methods, like
consulting experts and searching for new patent information, and utilizing internet
search engines, which can limit efficiency.

• To address these challenges;

• Advanced tools such as Generative AI have emerged as game-changers. Platforms like
ChatGPT, Bing, and Bard leverage Generative AI's capabilities to swiftly process data
and generate insights based on user-defined prompts. This technology significantly
accelerates search time and expands coverage, aiding in root cause analysis,
technological evolution studies, exploration of different industries, and utilization of
problem-solving methodologies like the TESE 40 Principles and TRIZ tools.

Prompt Engineering

The process of instructing an AI

to do a task is called prompting.
We tell the AI a set of instructions
(the prompt) and it performs the
task. Prompts can be as simple
as a question, or as complex as
multiple paragraphs.

There are 3 main kinds of Large Language Model.
Needs prompting in a different way

Generic Languages Model | these predict the next word based

on language in the training data.

Instruction Tuned | Trained to predict a response to the

instructions given in the input.

Dialog Tuned | Trained to have a dialog by predicting the next

response.

TRIZ Tools and AI Prompting
Zero-shot prompting

Zero-shot prompting is the most basic form of prompting. It simply shows the model a prompt
without examples and asks it to generate a response

Few-Shot Prompting

Few-shot prompting, which is basically just showing the model a few examples (also called
"shots") of what you want it to do. Few shot prompts allows the AI to learn from these few
examples.

Chain of Thought Prompting (COT)

The main idea of CoT is that by showing the LLM some few shot exemplars where the
reasoning process is explained in the exemplars, the LLM will also show the reasoning process
when answering the prompt. This explanation of reasoning often leads to more accurate results.

CECA
CECA is Cause and Effect Chain Analysis. This tool is very close to Why-Why Analysis.
CECA can find root causes and deeper root causes until finding key disadvantages.
CECA can find the key disadvantages at specific parameters and their value (maximum or
minimum).
What's different from Why-Why is; CECA may identify the key disadvantages (possible root causes)
which have a specific value that causes the first problem but when trying to change that value
oppositely, the first problem is gone but may create a new problem. We call this situation a
"Contradiction".
Let's try to create the CECA of the problem "Uncomfortable breathing Mask"; consisting of multiple
columns of the potential root causes at the specific parameters level of the related system
components.
Identify key disadvantages, and if possible, identify the contradiction at each specific parameter at
maximum or minimum value. Display in tabulate format. Finally add a column for the "Key problem";
Key problem is the problem statement in term of "How to adjust the parameters of each root causes
to eliminate the first problem without creating the new problem?".

Root Cause Analysis

[Problem Statement] : “PCB consists of layers 1. Polyamide 2. Copper 3. Nickel 4. Gold

Layers of nickel and gold are plated in solution. Later, the customer asked to reduce the
process to reduce costs by canceling the nickel-plating process. One month after the
delivery of that product to customer, the customer took the PCB storage before it was put
into production for a month. The customer found that only the nickel-plating product was
reduced. found a problem on the product It looks like rust on the gold's surface. Engineer
try to investigate by using Spectrometer to inspect to the rust particle, and they found it is
element of copper. So, The engineer then told the customer that blame not rust, It actually
is a component of copper growth through the gold surface, where copper is used to be
between polyamide and gold.” /

Example of Prompt
Root Cause Analysis - AI Response
1.Galvanic Corrosion: Investigate the possibility of galvanic corrosion between copper and gold. Galvanic corrosion occurs when two different metals
are in contact in the presence of an electrolyte, causing the less noble metal (copper) to corrode.
2.Electrochemical Cell: Consider the setup as an electrochemical cell with copper, gold, and the surrounding environment acting as electrodes and
an electrolyte. This can help analyze the movement of ions and electrons leading to the growth of copper through the gold surface.
3.Electroplating: Understand the electroplating process used in PCB manufacturing, particularly how the layers of nickel and gold are plated onto the
copper layer. Electroplating involves the use of electrical current to deposit one metal onto another, which might be relevant to the growth of copper.
4.Electrolysis: Explore electrolysis principles, as the growth of copper through the gold surface might involve the movement of ions driven by
electrical potential differences.
5.Redox Reactions: Investigate redox reactions between copper and gold. Redox reactions involve the transfer of electrons between different
chemical species and can explain the transfer of copper ions from the copper layer to the gold surface.
6.Metallic Lattice Structure: Consider the lattice structure of copper and gold and how their atomic arrangements might interact when in contact,
potentially facilitating the movement of copper ions.
7.Diffusion: Study the principles of diffusion, which could explain the migration of copper ions through the gold layer over time.
8.Surface Chemistry: Examine the surface chemistry of gold and copper, especially the interactions between these metals at an atomic or molecular
level.
9.Corrosion Resistance of Gold: Explore the corrosion resistance of gold under different conditions, as this can shed light on why copper growth
occurred only on the gold surface.
10.Metallography: Apply metallographic analysis to understand the microstructure of the layers and any changes that might have occurred due to the
presence of copper growth.

Mechanism Oriented Search*

My problem-solving experience I would like to share with you; I once had a question about
feeding in a commercial fishpond that is raised to be used as food for humans. Good fish
farming (grow fast, get weight as needed, and loss during rearing) is required to provide
appropriate water management. no residual waste no water waste with good aeration. One of
the factors contributing to water pollution is fish feed. too much food or staying in the water for
too long will waste water if we put in too little food, the fish will grow slowly and not reach the
desired weight. While thinking about those methods, it was realized that there was a similar
"problem mechanism" that may be used to solve the problem, namely when a man is hungry
There will be a cry from the abdomen. At that time, it led to the question that when fish are
hungry. We can measure vocals or other different sounds. Caused by the behavior of fish that
are hungry or not. If measured, it will bring timely feeding. / Please find a new "problem
mechanism" in specific 5 technical systems and 3 natural systems that are similar to what
happens when a fish is hungry. in tabulated format.
