ENTRY POINT APPROACH


COMPREHENSIVE SEXUALITY EDUCATION (CSE)

• The Entry Point Approach is an approach to learning – a


structure for designing curricula rather than a particular
curricular vehicle.
• The notion of entry points was introduced by Howard
Gardner in The Unschooled Mind (1991).

• Based on these objectives, the content and methodologies
must be designed to effect the basic knowledge,
attitude and behavior desired, while respecting cultural
sensitivities and the situation of teachers.

• For teachers, it is meant to provide “clear,


consistent, and straightforward guidance” on the
essential minimum core content for sexuality
education that is appropriate for the age and
development level of students in Grades K to
12.
