VOLTMETER

MILLIAMMETER
The Multitester or multimeter is sometimes called the VOM
(voltmeter, ohmmeter, milliammeter). It is the best instrument
that can measure voltage, resistance and current. It is
generally made of two types: the analog and the digital.
1.) Indicator Zero Connector
2.) Indicator Pointer
3.) Indicator Scale
4.) Continuity Indicating LED ( CONTINUITY )
5.) Range Selector Switch knob
6.) 0-ohms adjusting knob/0- centering meter
(NULL meter) adjusting knob
7.) Measuring Terminal +
8.) Measuring Terminal – COM
9.) Series Terminal Capacitor OUTPUT
10.) Panel
11.) Rear Case
Function of each parts of a Multitester

Meter scale is used to identify the amount of voltage current and resistance of the circuit being
measured.
Pointer is a movable part of the multi-tester which deflects
and indicates the reading.
Indicator Zero position adjusting screw / OHM Adjuster

is used to adjust the pointer to zero before testing is performed in order to gain
an accurate measurement.
Range Selector switch is composed of several setting for voltage, current and resistance
which is used to indicate the kind of range ( voltage, current and resistance)to be
measured.
Test probe positive (red), negative (black) is used to
connect the multitester to the electrical components or
circuit being tested.
Range 0-2 2-10 10-20 20-50 50-100 100-200

X1 .2 .5 1 2 5 20

X10 2 5 10 20 50 200
X1000 20 50 100 200 500 2000
10k 200 500 1000 2000 5000 20,000
CONCLUSION
Multimeters do not have high accuracy of measurements, but are quite
reliable in operation. Therefore, digital and analog multimeters are gaining
popularity and are widely used.
