Overview of the topic
The learners will recognize the importance of truth, the ways of
showing truthfulness, and the effects of not being truthful.
Truthfulness is not easy to learn, and we have a strong tendency
to defend and protect ourselves, sometimes at the cost of truth.
We find ourselves comfortable in the habit of saying what is
untrue to save ourselves.
Overview of the topic
As a matter of fact, we are not helping anyone when we are
untrue. We only lose our integrity as people when we take the
risk of ruining human relationships.
However, being truthful in words and actions shows
commitment to the truth and a strong conscience. This is
essential to developing strong human relationships.
Overview of the topic
Moreover, the importance of truth can be related to the 4 th
Commandment of the Catholic Church, which Jesus Christ
himself follows and lives by. Through this, the learners will
be able to understand that this value is grounded in the
teachings of Jesus and are essential in developing
understanding of the importance of truthfulness in words
and action to human relationships.

Knowing What is Good

“Truth is absolute.”
It cannot be changed by perception, campaign, advocay, dictatorship and other man-
made half-truths. It cannot be colored nor twisted by bias, motives or intentions.
Therefore, you cannot say, “It depends on the situation. If _________, then _______” or
“Since everybody is doing it, it must be true.”
Remember, truth cannot be changed, whether you practice it or not, it remains the
truth.
Knowing What is Good

Truthfulness begets love and kindness. When you see that

your friend is wearing something that will cause others to
disrespect him/her, tell him/her so. When you think an idea
is not agreeable to you, even when everybody else is, say
it and explain why.
Knowing What is Good

When you get into trouble for failing to do your responsibility,

admit your fault and suffer the consequence. Yes, this is not easy
to do and you will feel uncomfortable most of the time,
embarrassed. Nevertheless, the truth shall set you free. When
you admit the truth, you gain integrity, and people will relate to
you with acceptance, love, and kindness.
The Value of
Honesty
“You shall not steal. You shall not deceive
or speak falsely to one another.”
-
“Huwag kayong magnakaw; o
mandaraya; o magsinungaling ang
sinoman sa kapwa.”

Leviticus 19:11
● What do you think about having
value for honesty in all things or
situations?
● Why do you feel it is important to
have honesty in your personality?
Honesty is choosing not to lie, cheat, or
cheat in any way.
A person with honesty experiences God's grace, such
as peace of mind and respect for himself. Others trust
the person who is honest in all occasions and
situations in life. A person with honesty builds
strength in character that can be used so that they can
provide great service to others.
It's a great challenge to live honestly.

The determination to practice honesty in word

and deed is an important ingredient in forming
good character in a person.
What is Honesty?
Honesty is a value in which people live the actions
that are right, good, and appropriate for the
situations that have happened in their lives.
Good character can be seen in the honesty of
words and deeds.

On the other hand, dishonesty in word and deed

can be seen in cheating and lying.
