First Impressions was published on 28th


January 1813, which was later
published as Pride and Prejudice.
 JANE AUSTEN - WRITER
In the 1790’s , during her adolescence, Jane
Austen started writing on her own.

Love and Friendship – a parody of romantic


fiction, organised as a series of love letters is
considered to be her first work.
She published her first novel, Sense and
Sensibility in 1811.

Between 1811 and 1816, she published her


works, anonymously.
Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Emma
and Mansfield Park were published.
Lord Byron called this novel as the Fashionable
Novel.

In addition to this, Numerous Screen Adaptations


have contributed in popularizing this novel, Pride
and Prejudice.
This Novel has inspired a number of other works
that are not direct adaptations.

One of the book inspired by this novel is The Book


of Ruth by Helen Baker.
 CONCLUSION
In 1816, at the age of 41, Jane Austen
became ill with Addison’s disease.
Atlast, she passed away on 18th July
1817.
It was only after her demise, her identity
was revealed to the public.
She is widely regarded as the Queen of
English Literature.
