movement that drew inspiration from nature and
incorporates soft and organic features.

CRAFTS AESTHETIC: The plate of the table is mostly from

appealing. The rippled edges looks inspired from the supple
movement of waves though it is a uniform and repeated
pattern, the straying from the geometric circle allows for a
more arts and crafts-esque product. The table legs are metal
work that has used metal bending to create simplistic curves
that are organic and mimic nature’s vines that wrap around.
This is a signature style of the movement. It is black which
contrasts with the colour of the table surface. This allows for
a more appealing design. However, the bronze colour may
come off as rusty and would be unappealing to some.
TARGET AUDIENCE: Due to the expense of the product, this
would be targeted towards the rich who can afford buying it.
However, bronze/copper is also an inexpensive material and
can come across as ‘rusty’ which might be distasteful to
young audiences but more appealing for elders who would
find nostalgia in the product
Bronze/copper is also an inexpensive material which
MANUFACTURING: This table was a one-off product, most
likely made from an expert/professional in metal bending
who is highly skilled. The two pieces (the legs and table
surface) were likely welded together to ensure a sure fit.
COST: Since it is made from one person or small group, the
production of this product would take a long time which
increases the value of the product. The quality of the product
would also be high due to the manufacturer usually being
highly skilled. This would make the product only accessible to
wealthy people who could splurge on high quality and
decorative furniture.
There are two aspects to art nouveau. This is the
ART fussy and Victorian-esque aesthetic.

NOUVEAU

PRODUCT incorporated to into the chair’s frame. The shape is
also very organic and mimics elongated and looming
vines. The design is very intricate and holds a very
natural motif. The grain of the would gives it
aesthetic value the varnish layered that allows for
the grain to be seen and make the surface shine.
ERGONOMICS: The chair is a low to the ground
which would be uncomfortable and not as functional
for the elderly. However it does have more support.
The varnish also prevents possible splinters.
MANUFACTURING: The chair was most likely carved
from a block of wood by a skilled professional. Due
to the continuous frame with no breaks.
COST: It wouldn’t be affordable due to its intricacy
the cost of the product would be expensive.
ART DECO

and a sunburst inspired arm rests that show
inspiration from Aztec Art which is a staple of the Art
Deco movement.
ERGONOMICS: The cushions are big and dense
which would allow for it to be very comfortable.
MANUFACTURING: This product is likely mass
produced due to the simplistic design that can be
manufactured using new technology and
manufacturing techniques. The joints used allow for
perfect 90 degree angles.
