Fanni Jóri's personal investigation for her Textiles project is called "Nature's Origami". She explores bringing contrasting ideas of nature and modern fashion together. One sample uses black leatherette quilted to resemble the texture of sand when viewed from above, with the straight lines of origami. Another uses smocking on black leatherette to resemble a cactus trunk, and calico smocking resembles a honeycomb. A pintuck sample layers black and beige leatherette to resemble palm leaves with light shining through.

'Nature's Origami'. With this project, I intended to bring two contrasting ideas together to explore the idea of nature inspired fashion in our modern world. Closely focusing on the detail, the influence behind my samples were any form of nature. The overall garment for my final piece (still in the making), is inspired by the folds and angles demonstrated in origami fashion.
This particular sample was made with black
leatherette material, which is the fabric I mainly focused on throughout my entire project. This quilting technique resembles the POWE texture of sand in bulges, when looked atR E D B Y from a bird's eye view, with the restrictive, straight lines of an origami.
I have explored fabric
manipulation a great deal throughout my personal investigation. To the left, I've continued to work with the black leatherette material using the lozenge smocking technique, similar to the texture of a cactus trunk. Whilst to the right, I've worked with the calico material to produce this honeycomb smocking, which evidently resembles a honeycomb.
To produce this pintuck sample, I have
layered two pieces of leatherette material on top of each other, this time including a light beige colour underneath, to link it to my color palette which is very neutral to compliment my theme. The fine black detail resembles palm leaves, and the contrasting colour behind it is almost as if the light is softly shining through.
