ISSUE 2: QUESTION
Shortages of wheat flour from Russia due to Russia – Ukraine war in 2022 which affects the
supply of raw material to produce bread in Gardenya factory. The average consumption of wheat
flour by Gardenya factory is 200 tons per month which 80% of the supply is from Russia. Other
major producer of wheat flour is United States of America but the cost price is triple than the
price purchase from Russia due to Ringgit Malaysia currency value has dropped substantially in
the past few months. Hence, the SC manager has been instructed to conduct a “Sourcing
Strategy” analysis and come out with remedial measures to solve this problem on short term and
long term basis. (10 marks)
