REVISION: RECOMMENDATION REPORT (SOLUTION BASED)

You are the owner of Batik Modern Sdn. Bhd. This small company produces customized
batik material to clients who usually order in bulk. Since the quality of the batik produced by
the company is of high-quality, more and more orders have been coming in. However, the
existing workers at the company’s factory can only complete certain number of orders in a
day with the current working hours. Consequently, this is causing a long waiting time for
clients to get their orders. Therefore, you would like to increase the batik production of the
factory without compromising on the quality. You understand the situation and have TWO
(2) possible solutions to tackle this issue.

Subject : RECOMMENDATION REPORT ON INCREASING BATIK PRODUCTION

Dear Ms Michelle Lee Ching Wei/Ms.Lee

Introduction

This report was requested by the board of directors of Batik Modern Sdn Bhd. during the company
meeting on 7 September 2020.

Purpose

The purpose of this report is to recommend you a few solutions to increase the production of our
products at the factory.

Problem

Many orders have been received for our products however, our factory can only complete a certain
number of orders a day in the current operating hours causing a long waiting time for clients.

Scope

This report will discuss several solutions that can help to increase the production of batik at the
factory. The solutions are increasing the number of staff, investing in new machinery, and changing
the factory’s operating hours.

Increasing the number of staff

Increase staff number – help current staff - will help increase the number of productions – still can
maintain the quality of products – can hire part-time staff too – cons – money needed to pay new
staff/part time staff – might need to train new staff – takes time – unless can hire highly skilled staff

Invest in new machinery

Company can release budget – buy machines/equipment – help current staff workload – speed up
process of production – maintain quality of product output – cons – expensive – need to buy correct
equipment – need machines to be ready quickly

Changing the factory’s operating hours

Current operating hours is 9:00am-3pm – complete 30 orders – change to 8am-6pm – can increase
order completion up to 60 orders per day – less waiting time for customers – cons – increase salary
of workers – need to still maintain quality of products
