PROPOSAL

1. Title of the Study: Bangladesh Labor Law 2006 & Its Implication in Natore
Sugar Mills of BSFIC

Introduction: Natore Sugar Mills Ltd of Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries
Corporation is a government-owned corporation in Bangladesh engaged in the production
of sugar. It is an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Industries, Government of
Bangladesh. The activities of the Corporation are managed through a Board consisting of
1 Chairman and 5 Directors appointed by the Government. Natore Sugar Mills Limited is
a heavy industrial enterprise located in Natore district of Bangladesh. It is one of the
major sugar mills in Bangladesh.

History of Natore Sugar Mills Ltd.: Bangladesh Sugar Mill Corporation was formed in
1972 by the President's Order No. 27. Later on 1 July 1976, Bangladesh Sugar Mill
Corporation and Bangladesh Food and Allied Industries Corporation were merged to
form Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation. It is in charge of 15 sugar mills
in Bangladesh. One of the main sugar mills overall in Bangladesh is Natore Sugar Mills
Ltd. of BSFIC. Under the management of the Sugar Industry Corporation, the
construction of this industrial plant started in 1982 and was completed in 1984, and sugar
production began in 1984-85.

2. Importance of the study: Bangladesh Labor Law-2006 treat as local labor law in
Bangladesh for all sector labor/employees. Employment terms & condition,
employment benefit, Health protection system, safety, Welfare activities, Working
hour & leave, wages & their payment, wage board instruction, Industrial Relations &
Trade Union, Industrial dispute settlement procedure, Workers participatory in
company profit, Offence, Punishment & procedure, Administration, Inspection, etc &
another’s.

Above these chapter & issue most important for any others industrial employee for
their secure job & job place. As well as especially important for Bangladesh Sugar &
Food Industries Corporation sector workers. I want to discuss about this subject.

3. Specific objectives: The specific objective of the study will be:

1. I will find out appointment of workers appointment & terms-condition of


employment.
2. I will find out younger workers recruitment & appointment in this industries.
3. I will find out maternity benefit procedure in this industries.
4. Health protection system in the industries of Natore Sugar Mills Ltd. of BSFIC.
5. Safety (Fire Safety), PPE use in the industries of Natore Sugar Mills Ltd.
6. Special provisions on health, hygiene and safety
7. Welfare measures in this type of industrial sector workers.
8. Working hour & leave management
9. Wages & payment procedure system

4. Broader objective of the study:


It’s very necessary to eliminate discrimination. So that I will try to find out how
many implication of Bangladesh Labor Act in this industries of Bangladesh Sugar &
Food Industries Corporation. Every level employees any other facilities, compensations,
benefit ensuring by labor laws instruction & guidelines. So I will agree to a survey about
this things.

5. Scope of the study:

The study is specifically limited to workers of any other industry. It is discussing only a
smaller side of industrial sector of Sugar that means “Natore Sugar Mills Ltd of BSFIC.
Through knowing the relationship among these two areas of employer & employees. This
study can facilitate the participants who have the benefited to work in the field and other
who are working in this sector. This can also be used as a reference in any relevant study
in future.

6. Methodology:

This term paper aims to study Bangladesh Labor Law 2006 & its implication in Natore
Sugar Mills Ltd. of BSFIC. Data will be collected through structured questionnaire,
organization visit, discussion with authority & interview. Data will collect from various
sources like employees & employer or agent. We will get a number of survey
participants. We will get an access to a huge collection of data to ensure more authentic
statistical analysis.

Sampling:
For the convenience of Natore Sugar mill workers will be chosen. To find out originally
practices & implementation condition

Sample Size: The sample size for the study will not be large one. The sample size will be
almost 40 page with representation of the management and front line employees
concerned.

Population: Total Number of Manpower in Natore Sugar Mills 953 Nos. Total
population for data collection 40 Nos.

Sampling Scheme: Having fixed up sample extent, sample size and sample units, it will
take short time to complete the task of collection information.
Source of Information: Both primary and secondary data will be used to reach a
convincing result;

a. Primary Data:
Primary data will be collected through Structured Questionnaire, Personal
Interview and group Discussion.

b. Secondary Data:
 Secondary data will be collected from the team leader of the industries by
physical observation and record review.
 Official website of the company.

Data Processing Method:


Collected data will be verified. Moreover data will be processed by making consistency
checking with the help of computer and relevant knowledge on the subject as well as the
knowledge and application of statistical tools. Some manual techniques will be applied
during the collection of opinion through the questionnaire.

7. Activity Schedule:

This study will be accomplish between January 11th January 2023 to 1st March 2023 the
study duration is seven weeks & 49 days.
