IN TWO
PPT Presentation Prepared by: Mira Joy C. Alquizar
OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson , the students
should be able to:
o-use linear equation to solve
problems
o-apply linear equation in real life
situation.
We will need
a pre-test first
RECAP
Look at the following examples on how problems are
solved using Linear Equation.
The following steps can help us to solve
problems about Linear Equation.
1. Read and understand the problem
carefully.
2. Make or complete a table base on the
problem.
3. Represent an equation base on the
relationship of the given in the table.
4. Write a conclusion.
EXAMPLES: 1. The table shows the
relationship between the perimeter of a
square and its side.

What is the perimeter of the square if its

side measures 30cm?
Solution:
Base on the information inside the table,
the relationship between the perimeter
and the side of a square represent the
equation P = 4(s).
To find the perimeter of the square if its
side is 30cm use P = 4(s).
Solution:

Therefore, the perimeter of a square is

120 cm if its side is 30cm.
2. During the Enhanced Community
Quarantine (ECQ), no one can go outside
except for the front liners and those who will
buy essential needs such as medicine and
food. Because of these, Janna gain weights of
154 lbs. For her to lose weights she decided to
do some exercises. Every week she weighs
herself and record the results in the table as
follows:
Let x be the number of weeks; and w be the
weight of Janna in lbs.

a. What equation can you formulate to find

the weight (w) of Janna in (x) number of
weeks?
b. What will be Janna’s weight in 4th
week? In 5th week? and in 10th week?
c. In how many weeks she needs to work
out to gain her desire weight of 102lbs.?
Solutions:
a. In completing the table, we can say that
the relationship between the number of
weeks and the weight of Janna in lbs.
represent the equation
w = 154 – 4x.
b. To find the weight of Janna in 4th
week, in 5th week, in 10th week use the
equation w = 154 – 4x.
Therefore, Janna’s weight in 4th week is
138 lbs., in 5th week is 134 lbs., and in
10th week is 114 lbs.
d. Continuing the table, we can find how
many weeks she needs to work out to gain
her desire weight of 102 lbs.
Since x is the number of weeks, she needs
to work out to gain her desire weight we
can use w = 154 – 4x.
Jana needs 13
weeks to gain
her desire
weight of 102
lbs.
3. The distance from Rizal High School to Pasig
City market is approximately 3km. The tricycle
fare (f) from Rizal High School to Pasig City
Market is 8 pesos and an increase of 1 peso for
every additional kilometer. How much will you be
charged if you take a 5 kilometers ride? 7
kilometers ride? 8 kilometers ride? and a 10
kilometers ride if you wish to go to other places?
Solutions: Let: d be the distance traveled
after going to Pasig City market f be the
transportation fare
We can find the equation using two- point
form

Using the points (3,8) and (4,9), let

𝑥1= 3, 𝑥2= 4, 𝑦1= 8 and 𝑦2= 9.
Since y is the transportation fare and x is
the distance traveled after going to Pasig
City market, the relationship between the
distance and the fare represent the
equation f = d + 5.
To find the charge if you take 5
kilometers ride, 7 kilometers ride, 8
kilometers ride, and a 10 kilometers ride
if you wish to go to other places use the
equation f = d + 5.
Therefore, you will be charged 10 pesos if
you take a 5 kilometers ride, 12 pesos if
you take 7 kilometers ride, 13 pesos if
you take 8 kilometers ride and 15 pesos if
you take 10 kilometers ride.
b. In how many days does the DSWD needed
before they completely given the financial aid
amounting to 270 Billion pesos?
WHAT I LEARNED TODAY…
Linear Equation in two variables can be applied to solve
problems in our daily life related to number relations, age,
measurement, etc. The following steps can help us to
solve problems about Linear Equation, read and
understand the problem carefully, make or complete a
table base on the problem, represent an equation base on
the relationship of the given in the table and write a
conclusion.
