SEARCHING FOR AND CHOOSING
RESOURCES: TIPS

1. Use print resources from the library


2. Check the bibliography/references of primary and secondary
resources
3. Search in reliable websites and open-access secondary
resources
4. Search using keywords (e.g., “inspiration,” “soteriology,”
“Christology,” “parousia”). Be sure to use the quotation
marks.
5. Prefer the most recent studies over outdated ones (except
when using old or seminal works is necessary)

TIPS ON HOW TO LOOK FOR A TOPIC

• READ, Read, and read. This will help generate curiosity.


And research always starts with a curiosity, a question that
you need to answer (research question).
• Check the recommendations section of research articles,
theses, and dissertations. They usually recommend studies
that future researchers can do.
• Search online or in print about a topic or issue you are
interested in. Search for what has been written about the topic
and what has not been written about it yet.
