OBJECTIVE

• Road accidents contribute to majority of deaths in India. Most of the

lives may be saved if they get medical help quickly in time.
• The project is geared toward reducing the quantity of deaths thanks
to delay in arrival of help in road accidents.

Abstract

The Arduino Uno, which serves as the controller, is interfaced with a GPS
module, GSM module, and vibration sensor to create a system that may alert
the concerned parties about the accident. Without the driver or passengers'
consent, the vibration sensor recognises an accident by a change in the
predetermined value of the vehicle's orientation and sends the position via GPS
module to the registered sim card via GSM module. The intended approach is
to reduce the number of fatalities in auto accidents.

Literature review

GPS is a modern device which provide exact location in terms of latitude and longitude
co-ordinates. GPS and GSM could be attached so that they could acknowledge user, this
complete procedure could be assisted by a microcontroller.
A security system builds by the help of GPS, RFID and GSM is also an effective vehicle
security system which could be designed by interfacing all these three modules with a
microcontroller. In this system vehicle is secured by using area location service. A company
can use this system by issuing a specific RFID card to their all drivers. Whenever drivers
show this card with unique identity to machine it will get the data of driver from database,
if present. If data of the driver matches with the data in the system then a SMS will sent to
the system with driver’s data, the vehicle in use of driver and location co-ordinates of
vehicle. This data is always available on web and any authorized login person can monitor
this data. This is an effective system but it lacks efficiency and it was rejected to use due to
its delay.

Future Scope

The system can be further worked on and improved by adding camera functionality. This
will help provide a real-time video stream to emergency services, record the accident
occurrence, and help in legal and insurance proceedings with the police, court, and
insurance companies. The system can be incorporated with both 4G/5G functionality and
2G functionality and depending on the network strength actively operate on the stronger
network. The 4G/5G network will allow the live transmission of video and large data
transmission while the 2G network will ensure basic features always work even in poor
networks. The system can include driver monitoring features in the future to alert the
driver in case the driver is drowsy or sleepy while driving the vehicle. A number plate
monitoring system software along with cameras can be implemented as well to log the
number plates of the vehicles that were around the vehicle (with a system onboard) to
identify the culprit vehicles in situations such as a hit --and- run.

Conclusion

When an accident (simulation) occurred, the device successfully transmitted the

distress messages to the given mobile numbers. The sensors and modules used in
the device functioned properly and the desired output was obtained. The GPS
Module tracked the location with reliable accuracy levels, providing the latitude and
longitude coordinates of the device. The GSM module was individually tested as
well, to verify proper delivery of multiple messages to multiple numbers and the
results were satisfactory. We had planned to test the system vigorously to fine-
tune the various threshold values but had to halt the process. This testing would
involve multiple test cases. We had also planned to make the casing for the
system in order to protect the system from dust and debris. For partial simulation
purposes, Proteus Software has been used and the results obtained from
successful execution have been given below.
