Background
Global Network Sharing Intention
• Reducing network
Cost saving construction costs
• Improving ROI

Government • Coverage responsibility

regulations • Limited spectrum resources

Business • Fast TTM

strategies • Attracting users

1. Independent 5G deployment requires high investment of operators. For example, operators need to construct sites, equipment
rooms, towers, power equipment, and other site infrastructure independently. Besides, the 5G TTM will be prolonged.
2. With Multi-Operator Sharing, multiple operators can share RAN resources, requiring lower investment than independent network
construction.

In the 19B version, NR networking option of all operators is set only to NSA.
 RAN sharing with common carrier: Multiple operators share the same cell (shared spectrum).
 RAN sharing with dedicated carrier: Multiple operators share a base station but do not share a cell (spectrum is not shared).
In the 20A version, NR networking option of at most one operator can be set to SA or SA _ NSA.

RAN Sharing in NSA Scenarios (19B)

In the 19B version, RAN sharing in NSA networking supports Option 3 and Option 3X networking.
These network architectures are applicable in both Option 3 and Option 3X scenarios.
E-UTRAN and NR cells can work in RAN sharing with common carrier, RAN sharing with dedicated carrier,
RAN sharing with special dedicated carrier, or independent operator mode.

Resource Management for Multi-Operator Sharing
 RAN sharing with dedicated carrier: The secondary operator exclusively uses the cell resources.

 RAN sharing with common carrier: The primary and secondary operators share cell resources.
The 19B and 20A versions do not support resource allocation. Only full sharing is supported.

License Management for Multi-Operator Sharing

1. Each NE still has only one license file, which specifies the total licensed limits for all RAN
sharing operators, not for a specific operator.
 In RAN sharing with common carrier, a license purchase order is placed by only one party, which can be
the primary operator or a joint venture of the operators.

2. All feature licenses are shared by operators and their configuration is not operator-specific.

3. Capacity licenses are shared by operators and their configuration is not operator-specific.
