exploring and understanding various aspects of human cognition, emotions,
motivations, personality, and interactions in order to better understand how individuals
think, feel, and behave.

Reading is a visual activity that activates our minds to expand and


gain more knowledge.

Someone who is motivated to read find great pleasure in gaining more

Reading helps us stay away from distractions.


As we read, we maintain attention and focus in the story written, allowing
ourselves to open up our minds.

As we read, we visualize.
Every word or special symbol used allows us to visualize the type of
expression, story, and message that’s being shared by the author.
Our visualization skills allow us to picture written text in our heads to figure
out what is going on in the story.

Comprehension

As we read, we look at the text and try to understand each word written by
the author.
As we comprehend each text, we utilize this skill called critical thinking.
Critical thinking activates our brain to look at other perspectives from the
text, while finding ways to visualize the story. Not everyone will visualize
stories the same way, which makes the art of reading so fascinating.

The psychology of reading helps us understand the skills we develop


overtime.
With many different genre’s out there, so many of us can develop as
readers based on the subject of matter we love. Reading development

Metacognition is the ability to be aware of one’s own thought process.


As reader, sometimes we will put ourselves in the author’s shoes, trying to
understand their thinking through written text. Metacognition is a very
unique concept because it involves two different minds that are trying to
learn/understand each other.

This refers to the cognitive processes involved in understanding and making


sense of written information. It includes activities such as identifying words,
constructing meaning, and integrating new information with prior knowledge.

This refers to the use of existing knowledge frameworks or mental schemas


to organize and interpret new information. These schemas act as mental
templates that help individuals make sense of what they read by connecting
new information to their existing knowledge and understanding.

This refers to the influence of a person's age and psychological development
