Measuring of Obesity

• Obesity is commonly measured using Body Mass Index (BMI),


which is calculated by dividing a person’s weight in kilograms
by the square of their height in meters. The formula is:

• BMI= weight (kg)/Height (m²)
• The World Health Organization (WHO) classifies obesity into
different categories.
• Underweight:
BMI less than 18.5
• Normal Weight:
• BMI between 18.5 and 24
Overweight:
BMI between 25 and 29
Obesity:

Class I (Moderate): BMI between 30 and 34


Class II (Severe): BMI between 35 and 39
Class III (Very Severe or Morbid): BMI of 40 and above
