INTRODUCTION

 Climate change has become a serious threat, not just to

our environment but also to the growth and development
of nations.
 India ranks first in the world with highest net cropped
area followed by US and Russia
 According to latest fao report, agriculture is primary
source of livelihood for 58% population in India.
 The effects of climate change could be devastating to
coastal and marine areas as well as to the function and
structure of their ecosystems.
 Increasing sea level, changes the shape of coastlines, Source: CIA WORLD FACTBOOK
contributes to coastal erosion and leads to flooding and
more underground salt-water intrusion ultimately
affecting the coastal allied activities in addition to
agriculture.
NEED FOR STUDY

 To take practical actions to manage the risks that

results from climate change, protect communities and
strengthen the resilience of towards climate change.
 To know about the direct impacts of climate
change on the livelihood of the people living by
coastal regions.
 In order to reduce the vulnerability of human and
agricultural systems for the changing climate in
coastal zones.
 To know how it widely affects the socio-econimc
life of the people those habitat near the coastal
regions since they receive double impact due to sea Source: USGS
level rise.
OBJECTIVE

 To identify the non-climate stressors and climate-induced stressors

responsible for the change in agricultural practices in coastal regions.
To assess the impacts of vulnerable conditions in coastal zones under
agricultural activities.
To analyse the role of community imparted in agriculture and social
life in order to escape the vulnerability.
To identify the differences in inland agricultural and coastal
agricultural practices in a coastal district.
 To analyse the awareness among the farmers regarding the climate
change induced agriculture shift practices in coastal regions.
