OHM’S LAW

Ohm’s Law – states that, for steady current, the current in a circuit
is directly proportional to the total EMF acting in the circuit and
inversely proportional to the total resistance of the circuit.
The law may be expressed by the following equation if the current
I- is in amperes, the EMF E is volts, and the resistance R is in
ohms.
The relationship of the foregoing three variables was discovered
by George Simon Ohm, who theorized that current is in direct
proportion to resistance. The relationship is explained
algebraically, using this formula:
Series Circuit
Parallel Circuit
Example 1:
Find the current I in the given circuit diagram
Example 2:
A 30-ohm resistance is connected in parallel with a resistor R whose
ohmic value is unknown. If the total current Iт is 5.7 ampere when
the circuit EMF is 114 volts, calculate the resistance of the unknown.
Example 3:
Find the resistance R in the given circuit diagram
Power Law
-is the rate at which work is done per unit of time. In electricity,
the unit of power measurement is in watts, W, named after James
Watt who invented the steam engine.
One watt is equivalent to work done in one second by one volt of
electrical pressure in moving one ampere. Hence, power in watts is
equal to the product of electrical pressure in volts and current.
