DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PRINT AND
ONLINE COVERAGE
Content is generally written for the print edition, and then it is placed online.

The paper will follow a specific layout in print - there will be a certain
number of words allocated to different sections. Opinion articles will be
required to be a certain length. Page 3 articles will generally be low brow
pieces designed to provoke and entice the reader.

When you are reading the print edition, it is clear what purpose each article is
serving, purely because you are used to navigating the print edition. Online, this
is less clear. It is difficult to know which pieces to take with a 'pinch of salt'
and which articles you should spend more time on.
This is different for breaking news - since this content is written for
online 'clickbait' and SEO.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PRINT AND
ONLINE COVERAGE
As a result, all the articles that appear in the print edition will appear online - so the quality
is the same on that front.

However, there will be supplementary online articles, which are generally news pieces rather
than analysis and commentary - these will be quality articles, but probably won't offer the
amount of insight that you would like from a quality newspaper.

The difference will be in the accessibility to the articles.

It won't be as easy to access the analysis and commentary articles because websites are set up
for news. It also won't be obvious as to why specific articles have been written - which is
then difficult to manage your biases.

As a result of this, I would agree that buying the print edition is a good bet.
